While the Apostle Paul sometimes wrote complex and lofty ideas, in Romans 15 and I Corinthians 16, he wrote clearly about the Gentile church supporting believing Jews in Jerusalem.

They were glad to do this because they felt they owed a real debt to them. Since the Gentiles received the spiritual blessings of the Good News from the believers in Jerusalem, they felt the least they could do in return was to help them financially. Rom 15:27

We are offering you an opportunity to take part in the same spirit of giving back to Israeli believers.
• Giving back in thanksgiving to God for opening the gates of salvation to the whole world.
• Giving to fill the land of Israel with Hebrew worship and build God’s Kingdom there.
• Giving back knowing that God has committed to bless those who bless Israel.

The Yeshua Israel Worship Initiative is designed to care for and support Israeli Psalmists in the areas of fellowship, accountability and, of course, the making of Israeli worship music.

The Yeshua Israel Worship Initiative has already placed four Psalmist families at their post as worship makers, and several singles as well. They spend their days composing, playing, training, recording and producing music as well as scouring the land for Israeli songwriters and musicians. As part of the vision, the older Psalmists mentor the younger ones, and all are encouraged to grow in excellence in their craft.

We currently have four more Israeli Psalmist families and four young singles waiting to take their position as worship makers as well. It is our desire to have many more in the future. Sponsoring each family costs $2,000-$3,000 per month, depending on the size of their family. This covers their livelihood and children’s needs as the cost of living in Jerusalem is very high. You can help sponsor one of these families with a monthly or one-time gift and by committing to pray for your Psalmist family in Israel!

Yeshua Israel Worship Initiative
(The Vision and Our Story on How it Happened)

by Kobi & Shani Ferguson

I once heard a professor say if you take a good look at your testimony, you are likely to find the circumstances surrounding your salvation are uniquely tied to your calling and destiny. In other words, the things God used to draw you to Him are often the areas where He will call you to serve Him. Of course, if you’ve walked the straight and narrow since you learned to walk, you probably won’t remember the details of your salvation experience. But if you do remember the moment or season of transformation, take a minute to consider how it all happened.

For me, worship was always something that brought God front and center in my life. Although I grew up in a God-fearing family, my teen years were bumpy. And yet, even during those bumpy years, I remember being caught up in moments of worship. It would happen at the most random times with no music, no masses - just a momentary awareness of God’s greatness and my nothingness. Perhaps these moments of spontaneous God-consciousness happen to everyone at some point. Perhaps if you choose to slough off the thought, it disappears from memory like an early morning dream. To me, such moments were euphoric, a moment of perfection in a filthy world – a memory that would remain seared in my mind. Years later, the sweetness of those memories would get me through difficult times. It also made those typical questions people asked to challenge God’s existence seem petty. When challenged with some world dilemma, the answer seemed obvious, “I don’t understand; I just worship.”

Ultimately, it was a corporate worship experience that got me back on track with God. I was about 15 when I attended a worship service (not by choice :)) and experienced God so powerfully that all the rebellious things I’d so passionately pursued suddenly seemed so dull. The worldly music I used to find solace in suddenly felt empty, and the thrill of doing things I wasn’t supposed to felt stale. I became so keenly aware of God when songs about Him played that it was easy for me to get caught up in the moment and worship like no one was watching.

Before I ever considered becoming a worship leader, people would approach me after a service to share how my worship inspired them to worship. So when this professor I spoke of earlier, shared of the connection between calling and salvation, it clicked. God had called me to make an impact in the field of worship, so it was no wonder that worship was a key factor in my decision to turn back to God

My grandmother, Freda Lindsay, co-founder of Christ for the Nations, always seemed to have some intuition about my calling to worship and often asked me if I was practicing my singing and piano. I studied various instruments and voice, but I was married with children before a great team of musicians would initiate an intensive season of worship leading and songwriting for me.

As soon as we had a full Israeli team of musicians, we dove into producing music with them and recorded three Hebrew albums in 4 years. All this was done after work hours and in between family time. Our songs would end up on nearly every MP3 player belonging to young Jewish believers in the Land.

Three albums and a number of worship events later, we could see God’s vision of filling the Land with Israeli worship was too big for just our band. We needed dozens if not hundreds of Psalmists - singers, musicians, and songwriters dedicated to the cause. That’s when we turned our priorities from recording our music to finding and raising up other talented worshippers - everything from musicians to singers to recording technicians. That shift of priorities led us to where we are today.

Source of Blessing

Yeshua Israel Worship Initiative - Ministering to the NationsMinistering God’s heart for Israel to the nations in our Jerusalem Ministry Center

In Genesis, when Abraham’s wife Sarah was taken by Abimelech to be his wife, Abimelech was rebuked by God. Surprisingly, even though the whole mix-up was Abraham’s fault, God ordered Abimelech to go to Abraham for prayer. Abimelech made no objection and requested prayer from Abraham. In addition, he also blessed Abraham with wealth and welcomed him to remain in his land. He did this because he understood from God’s instructions that Abraham was a blessed man who could bless others. In the same way, God has ordained Israel to be a source of blessing even when they don’t get things quite right.

Just as God never changes, and His gifts and callings are without repentance, God’s calling for Israel has never changed. Israel is still called to inspire the world.

That is why we’ve begun the Yeshua Israel Worship Initiative with the mission to inspire our entire nation to worship - and in turn inspire the world to worship with us. There are depths of worship available and breakthroughs that will happen on the earth only when Israel takes her rightful place as a “worship leader” for the nations. Our role as Jewish and Gentile believers is to help Israel fulfill this role on a national level.

Israel has always been called to lead in the ways of God - to be a frontrunner and inspire the world to worship God. It is from the Jews that you received the Scriptures - the very truth about life. It is from Israel’s prophets that the secrets of heaven and the future were revealed. It was in Israel that the Psalms poured forth from men’s souls onto scrolls. It was Jewish scribes who copied these texts by hand a thousand times so other nations could read of the mysteries of the Living God. This is what it means to be a light to the nations. Not merely being a stand-alone light to be admired. But rather, lighting the way to The Light.

Worship is expressed in many ways, and we live our lives as an act of worship. But the Yeshua Israel Worship Initiative is about the musical expression of worship. When God rescued the Children of Israel from Egypt, He gave them commandments on how to live and established an entire tribe dedicated to His services. They were called Levites, and the other tribes were ordered to care for them so they could care for the things of God. The Scriptures highlight times when the other tribes were rebuked for neglecting their role of caring for the Levites. There were direct correlations drawn between Israel’s neglect of the ways of God and Israel’s neglect of the Levites.

Raising up modern day “Levites” isn’t about tracing tribal lineage. Instead of referring to them as Levites, we call them Psalmists - after one of the greatest Psalmists of all time, King David, who was from the tribe of Judah. Judah means “Praise”. Our Yeshua Israel Worship Initiative is about supporting dedicated Psalmists, like King David, all over the land of Israel. These Israeli Psalmists will, in turn, fill the Land with worship and as is their calling, spread this worship to the nations.

We have spoken with many Israeli worship leaders and musicians who dream of picking up the torch of their ancestors and returning to their post as full-time Psalmists, but they cannot quit their regular jobs because of the responsibility they have to care for their families (see Nehemiah 13:10). In fact, worship leaders across Israel are rarely, if ever, able to fully dedicate themselves to the service of music ministry. In addition, few of them enjoy a supportive, mentoring and spiritual community around them to address the unique challenges their calling brings. We are looking to change that.
